JGBowers, Inc. and Advanced Cabinet Systems Announce New Leadership

10/31/2012

Advanced Cabinet Systems (ACS) and JGBowers, Inc., Marion, Indiana, announce a change in leadership as the company's founder prepares for retirement. Greg Bowers, who founded JGBowers Construction and Advanced Cabinet Systems over 30 years ago, announced that in January 2013 he plans to step down and pass on the leadership of the company to his son, Phil. "Phil has been working with me since he was a kid" Greg says. "He started sweeping floors in the factory when he was in middle school and worked his way through the entire production process during the summers of high school and college."

Phil began as a full time employee after completion of university in January of 2009 as sales manager, and is currently the company's Vice President of Business Development. Under Phil's leadership, the company more than doubled in sales and has been able to position itself as the largest plastic laminate casework and store fixture manufacturer in Indiana. "This company has a lot going for it" says Phil, "We're leaner than a lot of our competitors right now and we're positioning ourselves as a leader in the market. Without a doubt, we've got the best people in the industry working for us and we're all committed to building a world-class organization."

Phil will have an executive management team consisting of Bruce McLenithan, an experienced Plant Manager from Steelcase with consulting experience in Lean Manufacturing; Whitney Bowers, a skilled human resources expert with several years of experience in manufacturing HR, compliance and policy; Chris Rosman, a Construction Manager at JGBowers Construction who has been with the company since its inception; and Patrick Cox, an experienced financial officer and CPA with a strong background in tax law and manufacturing accounting. Along with his full time executive staff, Phil's father will act as an advisor along with Dave Thomas, a friend of the family and leadership mentor who has been coaching Phil on the transition.

"I feel very confident with the team that is in place at both the construction company and manufacturing plant" Says Greg, "We've got a young and aggressive leader, surrounded by a team of very smart people who have a concrete plan for growth." Greg goes on to say that the entire organization has known that a transition would take place soon and are comfortable with a new leader in place.
